IPL MEGA AUCTION: SHIKHAR DHAWAN BECAME THE FIRST PLAYER .. TOUGH TEAMS TO COMPETE .. LAST TWIST
Home > News Shots > SportsShikhar Dhawan, the Indian batsman who made his debut for the Delhi Capitals, was fourth on the list of highest run scorers with 587 runs last season.
Despite being in good form in the IPL series, the Delhi Capitals did not retain him and dropped him from the team.
Since then, his name has also been featured in the IPL auction list, amounting to Rs 2 crore. While some teams have been vying for a left-handed opener, all of them have competed hard for Dhawan in the IPL bid.
In that vein, the Rajasthan Royals and Delhi Capitals clashed to get him included in the squad. Following this, the Punjab team competed with them and eventually the Punjab team acquired Rs 8.25 crore.
First, Delhi and Rajasthan Royals competed to pick Dhawan, but the Punjab team in the middle knocked Dhawan out. While Mayang Agarwal has been retained by the Punjab team, it looks like he will start with Dhawan as a starter.
